Driving through town and came across this BBQ place. By far some of the best I have ever had. The BBQ sauce is amazing.

I had the pleasure of trying this most delightful BBQ this past Saturday.I am ashamed that I have driven by and didn't notice it before.I think the locals don't tell you about it because it's so good! The people working there make you feel welcome just like a old friend.I have tasted BBQ all over the world and have even took classes at the BBQ University.This BBQ is something special and a regular sandwich is a meal in it's self.They actually serve real sweet tea and not like other places who try but fail.The meat melts in your mouth and doesn't dry it or smother it,but leaves you wanting another bite.The hash and the coleslaw are so good you have to try.I hate to let the cat out of the bag,but go get y'all some and see for yourself!

well - first things first - the people were great. My first time there and they treated me like a 10 year regular. Pulled in the lot and first thing - It smelled like a Barbecue Joint. Good sign. Walked in and it Looked like a good Barbecue Joint - red and white checkered table cloths. And the friendliest people ever. I was on a mission to try some Hash - so I can't comment on the other food. The Hash was Outstanding - Really nice flavor, I thought it a little thin, but never having it, I wouldn't know. It does have a little kick in the background - not much but enough to let you know its there. Overall I would drive the 70 miles from Rutledge Ga to get there again - and as good as it smelled, probably try everything on the menu.

Super friendly, everything is made fresh homemade chicken taste is amazing. Pulled pork is absolutely wonderful.

Customer service is always great and welcoming. Has a hometown feel. Owners are very nice and friendly and in touch with the community. Overall great place.

First time eating here and I was very pleased. Good folks and awesome barbecue. I got the rib dinner, potatoe salad, coleslaw and sweet tea absolutely no complaints what so ever. Next trip through Thomson I will stop at Poppa's to eat again. If you haven't tried Poppa's do yourself a favor and stop in, you won't regret it.

Barbeque and the green beans were ok. Baked beans taste like pork and beans out of the can. I guess by it being Saturday they only had scraps left. I will have to try them on a Wednesday and see what they really have.

First time trying bought for 14 people to go, price was great only regret is I didn’t order more ribs! Great food!

My favorite food is bbq and I've had my share. This was easily in the top few for me. The sides were good (I don't know what some of the other reviews are talking about) and the plate was plenty to fill me up and leave me smiling. Good place good food

Was there with my family and the food was horrible. The meat wasn’t fresh. Tasted like it was a week old. The coleslaw was wilted like it was from a bag. The beans my wife ate were cold just fresh out the can. But the worse, my family and I were there and the assistant manager kept “looking at us” whispering something to someone else then looking back at us again. I felt very uncomfortable for my family. We won’t be back.

Very good BBQ, I have never been disappointed by anything here, IMHO best BBQ in Thomson.

We were traveling and googled some local restaurants. We chose this place because the ratings were high and we are so glad we did. This place is awesome. The ribs were delicious and our son ate two bbq sandwiches. The staff was very friendly and was eager to help us Great tea and lemonade also.

Great BBQ! When they have them, get an order of rib tips too! Hash and rice is ALWAYS a perfect side to any meal!

The people were friendly and the place clean, but I think it caters to the working man who wolf's down his lunch without tasting it. It tasted very bad and my husband wouldn't even eat it for dinner that night. My friend ordered a chicken sandwich and was given 2 slices of white bread and had to take the meat off the bone herself to make a sandwich! Very small portions too.

hello ,the BBQ is the best i have ever eaten .i drive the 15 miles past two other BBQ places just to have some rib tips or chicken, both are excellent.then we pick up a quart of hash to go that my wife uses as a base to make Brunswick stew .

When you step into the,bbq house it brings you back to southern Bbq the way it should be. The walls have pictured of old days the,menu is on the Wall as,you wait,in line,the aroma , comes flowing out into the dinning area not a fancy chain it's southern Bbq. Large helpings of bbq which melts,in your,mouth Cole slaw like mama makes it and. Sweet tea like mama use to make. Not enough room to try the desserts. But,next,time,for,sure

Nice and small easy to get in and out. I was the only customer there so ordering went by quickly. Food arrived fast and was nice and hot. Overall good experience but I will need to sample some more of the menu before a full review can be made.

Good friendly service. Good barbecue at a reasonable price. Sauce is thin and bland. Lemonade was real weak but sweet tea was good. Dining room tables needed washing off. Employees were very polite and provided fast service.

We have lived in the Augusta area for 5 years and we cant believe were just not finding this place! To say we are picky bbq eaters is an understatement. I have a long lime of chefs in my family and bbq is one thing we know. My husband and I agree the ribs here are some of the best weve ever eaten. They have flavor, no bad after taste and you can tell they were pit cooked. We will be back..actually we will probably be back tomorrow with parents! Pictured: rib plate and a trib tips plate
